No Mean People Allowed {Revised}

If you visited my blog earlier today, you know my original post with this title got a little heated. I was trying to defend a friend (and all working moms out there) and even though 99.9% of the comments on that post were in support of what I had to say, there was still a lot of negativity flying around that I honestly don't want etched into my blog forever.

But with that said, I just want to thank everyone who stood up for Mandy today. She was unnecessarily attacked for expressing her feelings on a topic that ALL mom's struggle with from time to time. It was hurtful and unfortunate and I just hope that the negative comments will stop from here on out.

And in case I didn't make my request clear enough the first time...

NO MEAN PEOPLE ALLOWED!

  3. I just read through all those mean comments and told my husband, "Who in the heck has the time to write all of that nonsense???"

    Good for you for sticking up for Mandy! We need more kind, caring, and thoughtful women to stand up against all the mean bullies out there.

  6. I read through the comments too and while I understand that working mothers do face a lot of criticism, I also know that any of us who blog (no matter the subject matter) are subject to negative comments from time to time. It's an unfortunate fact of internet life and one either needs to develop a thicker skin or do something like create a private Facebook or Google+ group instead. Don't argue back as it just leads to what you experienced today. Just my two cents.

  7. Thanks, Amy & Marie! You are both so sweet :-)

    Kitty - You are absolutely right. Fighting back today got us no where. And while I agree that all bloggers need to grow a thicker skin if we are going to put ourselves out there for the public, I also believe that there is a big difference between constructive criticism and flat out abuse. People are free to share their opinion, especially when bloggers ask for it. But to lash out the way that this individual(s) did was completely unnecessary. And no matter how it makes me look, I will always defend my friends and family.

  8. Jen, I so agree with what you said. I don't believe bloggers should have to grow thicker skin! People are not being forced to read your blog, nor should they if they don't like what is being said. Abuse and threats are not allowed EVER! And I am proud of you for defending your friends.

  9. Jen, thanks for understanding where I am coming from. Nothing wrong with defending yourself or those you care for!

    And Jan, I understand that no one is forced to read anyone's blog but putting them out there publicly does mean that things like this will happen from time to time. It's just the nature of the internet and as long as no laws are being violated, there isn't much to be done about it unfortunately.

  12. I missed all the fun! Hey, I am excited about a new year with new students, but I am sad about leaving my puppy! I wanted to add, though, that it isn't always about having to go to work. Some people prefer to work. That does not make them less worthy as parents, nor does it mean they aren't allowed to miss their babies (or puppies) while doing so.

  14. I can't believe you are already going back to school Lynne!I This summer went by too fast! That little puppy of yours is precious...I would miss him too! You need to get one of these Apple cameras that you can link up to your iPhone so you can look in on him while you are at work. I have been thinking about getting one to keep an eye on the kids when they are in the playroom. Haha!

    I'm afraid to admit I have made myself look like a total ass defending my friends before. I am loyal to a fault! Not saying you made an ass of yourself, lol just mean that I can relate! I hope Mandy feels better knowing she has supportive friends (irl and Bloggers!) People need to stfu sometimes! ;o)
