Addie and her boyfriend Connor finally managed to have their birthday date in the city yesterday.
Reunited and it feels so good.
Like any typical date in the city, we had to drive though insane traffic to get to the perfect location for lunch. Nothing says romance (for kids) like Rainforest Cafe. Waterfalls, pretend thunderstorms, ginormous gorillas...
And then it was off to the Shedd Aquarium to hold hands and check out some fish. Well...that was the plan at least, until we realized that every other kid on spring break was also there. The line was about 100 people back just to get in so we made an impromptu decision and took the kids to the Adler Planetarium.
This was actually a great compromise for Connor because he LOVES space and I think after yesterday, Addie has grown a love for it too.
We spent most of our time in these spaceship simulators...
Connor would have stayed there the whole time, but when he realized his woman was off playing on Mars...
And counting down for launch on her fingers...
He made sure to join her before lift off.
THis place really was great for the kids. They had so many neat things, like a whole room of dress-up clothes.
The kids can put these things on and then head over to drive the rovers.
Patiently waiting our turn...
Now THIS was Addie's favorite spot. I don't know what it is, but the girl loves dressing things up.
We explored the whole planetarium and then the love birds headed outside for some cuddling on the patio.
If you are ever in Chicago friends, make sure you walk down to the Adler Planetarium because it is the BEST view of the city. The kids thought this was so neat.
Ahhh...the perfect setting for young love. My little Carrie Bradshaw and her Mr. Big :-)
It's obvious that my little peanut fell in love with the city yesterday. It's hard not to in place as gorgeous as this.
But no matter how much she loves the city, she will ALWAYS be a country girl at heart.
And so will her brother.
Aunt Diana and Uncle Adam will see to that :-)
Thanks so much for coming up yesterday Connor and Auntie Tara. We had the BEST time!
And thanks for the ADORABLE new duds and bling belt Aunt Di! Now I can finally look like you on the farm :-) Will this belt work in the city too? :-)
