If There Were 25 Hours in a Day...

We've been insanely busy lately. I knew the month of June would be like this and I was even somewhat prepared for it. But when I looked at my calendar today, I realized that next Sunday is already July 1st.

JULY FREAKING FIRST!!!

Where did this month go? There were so many things I wanted to do in the month of June. Well actually, they were all things that I wanted to do in April or May and just kept pushing them back saying, "As soon as summer is here and we have more time..."

HA!!

So tonight, when I got my kids down to bed an hour earlier than usual (because they were lunatics today)...I made use of my time. I got my house picked-up, the laundry folded and put away, and even finished designing a birthday invitation for a friend. And as I sit here typing away, sipping the glass of wine that I VERY much deserve today I think...what if every day had 25 hours instead of 24? What if I had just one extra hour every day to do the things I just can't seem to manage in 24?

If I had an extra hour a day, especially one that was ALL to myself...here is what I would do:

Redisgn my Blog: I have been working on this since we opened our shop in April and I have yet to make any of the necessary changes. It's coming people. One day :-)

Get a Mani/Pedi: I have not one, but THREE gift certificates to my favorite nail salon sitting in my desk. I think I received the last one for my birthday in OCTOBER! I just can't ever seem to make the time to go. And if I get an hour away from the kids, I feel selfish using it to go get my nails done. But seriously...I need to just suck it up and go! I feel sorry for the next person the has to work on my feet.

Start Reading 50 Shades: I own all three books and I am literally the LAST person I know to start reading them. The funny thing is, I already know a ton about the story and I have already picked who I want to play Christian Gray in the movie. I've even had debates over who should play him, and I haven't even read the damn books yet. Loser!

Go See a Movie: If I'm not currently obsessed with some young adult fiction series, I don't make time to go to the movies. And I LOVE going to the movies! I love putting on a sweater (cause I'm always cold) buying my popcorn, raisinettes and cherry coke and plopping down in the comfy chair. I honestly don't even know what is playing at the theater right now, but I would consider seeing Madagascar 3 if it meant I could sit alone in a theater with my cherry coke. haha!

Read a Magazine from Cover to Cover: Isn't' that ridiculous? I can't even chill out long enough to read a magazine, which is why I have this months Real Simple, Women's Running, Self and Martha Stewart Living all piled on my nightstand.

Sit Alone in Barnes and Noble: To me, there is nothing better than ordering a ginormous cafe mocha WITH whip cream and browsing the shelves at Barnes and Noble. I swear, I would live in a bookstore if I could. The smells, the quiet, the fun books...gah! I love it. Barnes and Noble is my mother ship. And I miss it. It's been a while since we've had any alone time. And I have two gift cards bringing a hole in my pocket :-)

Talk on the Phone with Friends: Okay...let me rephrase that. Talk on the phone with friends WITHOUT screaming kids in the background. Haha! I can't remember the last time I had a full, uninterrupted conversation on the phone and there are lots of wonderful ladies in my life that I would like to catch up with :-)

Seriously...I could go ON AND ON with this list. And even though I know it will be a while before all these things happen, it's fun to write them down in the hopes that I will actually find that extra hour a day :-)

So, if you had an extra hour every day, what would you do with it?

  4. I would have more time for updating my blogs. And I'd get a pedicure. And I would go see movies with you because we would be besties IRL who love movies. Can you say The Dark Knight is coming in a few short weeks? YUMMY!

  6. I too am OBSESSED with book stores! I love Barnes and Noble and there is nothing better than finding a comfy seat with a warm drink and flipping through books. I especially love the children's section with all of the children's books, and the food section/cookbooks. HEAVEN! There's a book store here in England called Waterstone's (which is pretty much their version of Barnes and Noble) and on Wednesday, before my tattoo recolor, I took my Stabucks latte in there and soaked up all of the booky-goodness. It was amazing.

I'm also in desperate need of reading 50 Shades of Grey. I've been meaning to since about December when my Mom was telling me how good it was. Need to get my porno-chick-flick on. I also asked the man in Waterstone's if they had Kelle Hampton's Bloom in stock (cause I've been meaning to read that too) and it was only available online. Poop.

Oh, and get your ass to the nail salon! You deserve a pamper session!

    xoxo

  7. I SO wish I had a few more hours a day. I can't find time to do normal things, let alone "me" time things! And baby hasn't even arrived yet!! :O

And you'll have to let me know what you think of the books. I swear I've been reading 50 shades for 6 weeks. I find it so... boring! LOL :P I'm trying.. really really trying to like it :P

  8. Oh, I totally hear ya. And I haven't read 50 Shades yet either. Or had a mani/pedi in over a year. Life just gets too busy!
