Happy Birthday Aunt Dana!

I would just like to wish my sister-in-law Dana a very

Happy Birthday!!
As you all know, Dana is an incredibly special person in my life for many, many reasons. For starters, she is a loving, compassionate wife to this stud muffin right here...

An amazing mother to these two precious little peanuts...

A supportive, caring daughter and sister to this fantastic family...

A warm and nurturing aunt and Godmother to this little peanut...

A loyal friend to this crazy bunch of hotties...

She is an absolute goof ball at heart...

Which is just one of many reasons why we have been...

And always will be...

The best of friends. We hope you have a fabulous 29th birthday Aunt Dana!!! We love you!!!

I Was Never Good At Keeping Secrets...

As you all know, I have never been very good at keeping secrets. I have admitted this repeatedly so that my friends and family are all well aware of this before they confide in me. Because you see...when I know a secret...especially when it is a very good secret...I get all giddy with excitement and I have to do everything in my power NOT to blurt it out to every person I see. And this is even harder to do when the secret is my own.

When I was younger, I believed that if I wrote a secret down on paper, it wasn't like I was actually telling it to anyone. I figured if anyone just happened to walk by and see what I be it. So I decided that is how I am going to get around this little secret I am dying to tell. I will just write it on paper, and then if any of you happen to look at the picture below, then you would know that...

That's right #2 is on the way!!! I knew Eric would never believe me if I showed him the faint line on the test that I originally took, so I bought one of the tests that he says are "idiot proof". And here are the results...

I couldn't wait for him to get home from work so that Addie and I could break the big news. I gave Addie the test and told her to take it to Daddy. As you can see, she was pretty reluctant to give up her new toy...

But once Daddy saw what was in her hand...he knew...

Addie is going to be a Big Sister!!!

It is very early in our baby waiting game, but we find it hard not to share our wonderful news with the people in our lives. The newest addition to the Davis clan is expected to arrive in early January. So with God's blessing, a little luck and a healthy 9 months...we will have ourselves a New Years baby!! Woohoo!!!

Too Cute Tuesday: All About Boys

I realized today that I have a LOT of friends with little boys, and yet I rarely post about all the cute boy finds I come across. So to all you Mamas of Boys...this Too Cute Tuesday is for you! There is no rhyme or reason to this is really just a compilation of all the adorable boy items that I LOVE.

Monkey "Motzart" Doll by Bla Bla

You all know how in love I am with Bla Bla kids, so I am sure it comes a no surprise that I would include one of their dolls on my list. Baby Nolan has this monkey and he is just PRECIOUS!! He comes in two sizes, but I think the big guy is the way to go :-)

My First Sports Bag by Baby Gund

I actually gave this sports bag as a gift to Addie's cousin Brennan and he LOVES it! Addie has the My First Purse by Baby Gund and I just thought this was a clever "First Bag" idea for a little boy. This bag also covers  3 out of 4 of my husband's obsessions. Just change that soccer ball to a golf ball and we are set!

Denim Overalls by Baby Gap

Its no secret that I freaking love babies in overalls. I tried buying Addie a pair but when I put her in them, everyone said she looked like a boy :-( So...I guess I will just have to wait for my own son, or buy Mr. Nolan a pair. I think Baby Gap takes the cake when it comes to cute overalls don't you think?

Wooden Tool Box by Melissa & Doug

You gotta love Melissa and Doug toys. They are non-toxic and extra sturdy...just the way all good old-fashioned toys were made (minus the lead paint of course). Because my Dad is a carpenter, there is no way that any son in our family will ever get away with not having his own tool box. I think this is an adorable first set for any little guy (or girl) to have :-)

The "Manly" Toddler Takealong by Cutsie Tootsie all have to check out my Mom's Blog and see some of the new "manly" fabrics she picked out for her Toddler Takealong bags. Even little boys need to carry a book, 5 toys, a sippy AND a snack wherever they go. So why not let them carry all that stuff in style? This is by far my favorite print, but be sure to check out what else she has in stock :-)

Well there you go! A few of my random cute boy finds. I vow to be better about not posting all things girlie :-)

Daddy Learns to Multi-Task

Who's that on the lawn mower with Daddy?

That can't be Addie...she is suppose to be napping...

Busted!! This is what happens when Daddy is in charge of naptime.

Apparently she "didn't feel like napping" so Daddy took her for a ride. I'm not happy that Addie skipped another nap this weekend, but I am pretty proud of Eric for learning how to multi-task.

Happy Anniversary Mama & Papa!

I just wanted to wish my mama and papa a very

These two love birds have been married for 29 years if you can believe it! We are going to celebrate their big day at the Olive Garden tomorrow. Yum-my!!! Love you guys!!!

Peapod Anyone?

For those of you who don't know, Peapod is a grocery home delivery service. You get to shop online and then a truck delivers your groceries to your house. It's a genius idea if you ask me! However, I could never really justify paying someone to deliver groceries to my house when I live 2 minutes from 3 different grocery stores. But now that I have a VERY active toddler who doesn't want to stay in the cart, grocery shopping has become a real challenge.

And I don't know about you, but I have to run to the store at least once (if not twice a week) because I inevitably forgot something the trip before. Yes, I make lists. Yes, I clip coupons. But once I am in the store and Addie starts having a freak out because she can't reach the bag of Pirates Booty in the back of the cart, my mind often goes blank. I forget the list and forget my coupons and race through the last few isles grabbing whatever I can remember. Grocery shopping has become one of my least favorite activities and I have often considered paying someone to do it for me.

Well...this week I got a coupon in the mail for Peapod. They are offering free shipping for 60 days AND $20 off your first order. I took a look around the site and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have weekly specials, just like my local grocery store, and some of the sale prices are incredible! Oh, and they also take ALL manufacturers coupons so you can still save extra that way too! I have to be honest...this whole home delivery service is looking quite appealing today. Has anyone out there every tried Peapod? Was it worth it? Would you order from them again? I would love to know your thoughts.

What Did We Do Before Google?

Can someone please tell me what we did before...

I was browsing through our google search history (to find a recipe I looked up the other day) and I just had to laugh at the RANDOM stuff that Eric and I have googled over the past few days. Here are my Top 10:

1. What is mascarpone? (Jen)
2. PGA Tour Money List (Eric)
3. Best toddler pool toys (Jen)
4. PGA Tour schedule (Eric)
5. Harry Potter Half-Blood Prince movie Trailer (Jen)
6. PGA Tour scores (Eric)
7. Dingos double meaty bones (Howie)
8. Symptoms of a concussion (Jen)
9. PGA Tour recap (Eric)
10. Why won't my toddler nap? (Jen)

Like I said...what did we do before Google? I would never have learned that mascarpone is a soft cheese from Italy, that Pool-a-Hoops is one of the best toddler pool toys, that the next Harry Potter comes out in July...and it looks AWESOME, that Addie does NOT have a concussion AND that it is normal for her to refuse naps while teething. Whew! I don't know how my life could have gone on without these answers. Oh, and I am sure Eric would have lost a ton of sleep over not knowing the money list, schedule, scores AND recap of the PGA Tour that he actually WATCHED LIVE ON TV! But as much as I laugh at our random Google searches, they aren't near as funny as the list I found online (by googling of course). Here are the 5 funniest ones I could find:

1. Where did I put my car keys?
2. What is the number for 911?
3. How many horns does a unicorn have?
4. Will it rain on (fill in the date)?
5. Is William Shakespeare dead?

I could have listed about a thousand hilarious google hits, but these happen to be my fav. Have any of you every searched something totally random on Google and almost felt embarrassed by it? I once typed in "When was World War III". Yes...I DO have a college degree...just not in history obviously :-)

One Fun Friday

Boy oh boy...did we have one FUN Friday! Baby Bees was a success (finally) and the girls participated in all the activities. Here is the big parachute game we played to start the class off. Nia couldn't resist climbing to the middle. And yes, that is Dana looking fabulous after one month postpartum. B*tch :-)

The kids all loved this parachute/ball game we much so that many of them started crying when they put it away :-)

But have no fear, Addie found another activity that was just as much fun...the jumpy mat.

See me waiting at the other end? She would run all the way to me and then turn around just before I could grab her and run back to my mom. We played this game for the majority of the morning.

That is until I tossed her little butt in the circle mat. She wasn't a fan.

Oh, and Mr. Nolan made his debut today too and got to snuggle with Grandma all morning :-)

If all else fails at Baby Bees, Addie LOVES going to the mirror to check herself out....and give kisses. As you can see from the nasty finger prints all over this mirror...other kids love this too. GERM ALERT!

I literally had to tackle her to get her away from the mirror. Luckily, it was almost break time.

After Baby Bees, Addie and Grandma and I went to visit Great Great Aunt Odie again, since our last visit didn't go so well. Addie got to go for a ride on GG Aunt Odie's Rascal and she had a blast!

After our visit and a trip to McDonalds (I healthy), Addie took a fabulous 2 hour nap. Woohoo! And when she woke up, she was a ball of energy. So Daddy and Grandpa took her outside to play. It was a gorgeous 81 degrees today which makes me SO excited for summer!

See all those weeds in my beautiful mulch? That is my chore for tomorrow. It is suppose to be 80 again so I need to take full advantage and get some sun on my pasty pale face :-)

Once Again...

I have been a terrible blogger! Let me just say that this has been one CRAZY week...and it isn't over yet. I have a pile of papers to grade, a filthy house, and I am sad to say that I haven't showered in almost 2 days. Disgusting...I know. So for the sake of my students, my house and my own personal hygiene, I am taking the day off from blogging. But have no fear...tomorrow is Baby Bees which means I will definitely have something fun to report. Have a great night everyone!

Peace Out Tent...I Have a New Hang Out

I am no longer surprised by the random places Addie chooses to play in. First it was behind our couch, and then I couldn't get her out of her tent, and now our latest hang-out is IN the toy box! Yes...we can climb in on our own now.

She is so easy to please...

And here we are tossing every toy out of the box so that she could make more room for herself.

Ahhh.....perfect :-)

Brian O'Brian was on the TV (she loves the theme song) and so she sat in her little toy box and watched the entire episode. I know I shouldn't let her climb in her toy box OR watch TV...but hey...I never claimed to be Mom of the Year :-)

Too Cute Tuesday: Summer Sun Essentials

Even though there is SNOW in our forecast today, I can't help but think about summer. Because I plan to spend lots of time with Addie at our beach club and at Aunt Sue's pool, I thought I better start stocking up on some summer sun essentials. I just received my One Step Ahead catalog and here are some of the must-have items I circled. I think these all fall under the Cute & Practical category :-)

Adjustable Fabric Arm Floats

Nothing says summer like a pair of arm floaties! I think these are great because not only are they made of comfortable fabric, but they are also STYLISH! I mean come on...when you can make safety look know you are doing something right. Plus, I am a total sucker for ruffles :-)

Sun Smarties Fashion Shades

I know that eye protection is very important in the summer and because my baby girl can't seem to leave her regular sunglasses on her face, I thought these Sun Smarties would be perfect! They are attached to a comfortable neoprene strap that won't pinch fingers, and the lenses block out 100% of UV rays. And as you can see, they are 100% cute :-)

Sun Smarties Adjustable Swim Diaper

I know that reusable diapers are not for everyone, but since most disposable swim diapers are OUTRAGEOUS in price, I thought this was an awesome concept. The Sun Smarties swim diaper claims to contain leaks better because of their customized fit. And honestly, I am all for a product that will keep pee and...umm...other stuff...out of the pool I am swimming in. Oh, and what's better yet, these swim diapers are UPF 50+ so they protect you from accidents AND the sun :-)

Stay Put Adjustable Swim Shoe

I am not as concerned about Addie's feet when we are swimming in Aunt Sue's pool, but the terrain at our beach club is a little rougher. And because Addie is ALL over the place, I thought it might be nice to have a pair of shoes that she can wear on the sand and in the water. They also have skid resistant bottoms so when your kids are walking on a slippery pool deck, they won't loose traction.

 Sun Smarties Reversible Sun Hat

This Sun Smarties adjustable hat is such a smart idea...I wish I would have thought of it myself. First of all, the hat is UPF 50+ which is reason enough to buy it. But, it is also reversible! One side is a cool silk and the other is a comfortable terry cloth! Both perfect fabrics for summer. Also, this hat is adjustable which means it can last more than one summer!!! item I won't have to pack up for good at the end of the season :-)

There are a TON of other great summer items at One Step Ahead so check it out if you are looking to stock up like I am. They are offering free shipping over $85 too! Enjoy!

What I Wouldn't Give...

For someone to tuck me into a cozy crib and let me drift to sleep for 2-3 hours in the middle of the day. No dishes, no cleaning, no laundry to fold, no bills to pay, no writing to finish, no papers to grade...just peace and quiet in my own little bed. Ahhh....what I wouldn't give.

Addison, on the other hand, would rather spend nap time playing in her tent, chasing Howie, eating Cheerios off the floor, clinging to my name it. Anything but sleeping. It's funny, when she was just a little newborn at this time last year, I remember thinking "Wow...being a mommy is so much work." I could almost pee my pants with laughter when I think about how good I had it those first few months. I mean, I wasn't sleeping much at night, but I also got to take about 3 naps a day with peanut on my chest.

And because I was a "New Mom," I got off the hook on a lot of other responsibilities. But now that I am a so-called "pro" at this (or at least I should be), I am out of excuses...and naps. I just wish I could make naps as appealing to Addie as they are to me. She already has her favorite stuffed animals and blankie in there AND I had my mom make her room darkening drapes. As much as I hate to admit it...I think Addie is down to just one nap (sniff) so I need that nap to be longer than 45 minutes (yes...that is how long her naps have been for the past few days). I know she is teething right now too, but I still feel like there has to be something I can do to help her sleep better during the day. Does anyone out there have any great nap strategies? Tricks? Drugs they use (just kidding)....or maybe not?

The Next Annika Sorenstam?

It was Daddy/Daughter Day around the Davis household today. I had to teach class and then attend a wedding shower so Daddy got to spend the whole morning and afternoon with peanut. Of course, this is how the two spent their time...

The nice weather has left Eric all hot and horney for Golf so I guess he couldn't resist taking out the clubs today for a nice polish. While he did that, Addie practiced her putting.

By the end, Eric said she got the concept of hitting the ball with the putter. Too bad she was using the back of the putter :-) Oh well, he still has many years to turn her into the next Annika Sorenstam :-)

Great Great Aunt Odie

Addie and Grandma and I started off this lovely Friday with a trip to Baby Bees! Here is Addie carrying her Cutsie Tootsie Designs custom Toddler Takealong bag!

Just look at all the goodies she can fit in there!

After another failed attempt at Baby Bees, Grandma, Great Grandma and I took Addie see her Great Great Aunt Odie!!

Can you believe this woman is 97 years old and STILL looks that good?!! Her and I even have the same necklace for crying out loud! I should have raided her closet while I was there!

We didn't get to stay long at GG Aunt Odie's place because Addison was crab-by! Its not her fault though. I get the "Worst Mom of the Year" award today for letting Addie burn her little finger on my straightening iron in the bathroom. She only touched it for a split second, but it was enough to make her uncomfortable all day :-( Poor little baby. So we are going to attempt another visit with GG Aunt Odie next week. I will be sure to post more pics then.

Have a great Friday everyone!!
