A Happy Halloweenie!

Happy Halloweenie everyone! I got to spend my day with a beautiful Rapunzel and an adorable, yet reluctant, Lightening McQueen...

The ONLY thing keeping Blake in his little costume today was candy.

We were already on our second pack of M&Ms before we even left the house.

But that's what Halloween is all about right? Eating way too much candy and forcing kids to wear silly costumes they don't want to wear? Well...there was one child that did not need to be forced to wear her costume. My little Rapunzel was already dressed at 7:00 a.m. She said she needed to try everything on to make sure it still fit. You know, in case she grew since yesterday :-)

The only thing she really cared about today was her light-up hair. You can't see it well in the picture, but her little pony tail actually lit up like Rapunzel's in the movie. So cute :-)

Our first Halloween stop of the night was at Mima and Papa Steve's house. We always like to do a little trick-or-treating in their neighborhood before heading to ours.

I was so happy when we got to my Mima's house and saw that she had dressed up too. I was starting to feel a little silly :-)

Oh...look who's STILL eating candy. But hey...the costume is still on!

Before we headed out to trick-or-treat, Mima wanted a quick picture with her grandbabies.

And one with her favorite daughter-in-law :-)

I wasn't sure if my shy little Blakey was going to want to trick-or-treat, but when he saw the other kids take off, he went right with them.

Like always, Addie was the first to the door every time.

Blake actually went to the door, and then took about 10 steps back. He was cool just chillin with his balloon.

And chill with his balloon he did. The WHOLE time.

While Addie went from house...

To house...

To house.

And Blake just watched. With his balloon :-)

When we finally made it back to our house, you'd think this little guy would be excited to go inside. But all of a sudden, HE wanted to trick-or-treat. When I told him to come inside, I got a big fat "NO mama!!"

So I went inside to a little boy that wanted my attention. Mr. Howard. We didn't get his Harry Potter costume together in time this year, so we settled for a little lobster. HP will be next year :-)

Back at our house, Nana and Papa came over to help pass out candy to all the trick-or-treaters we expected to get this year.

But sadly, our neighborhood was kind of a bust. I don't get it either. The weather was great (for Halloween anyway) and our neighborhood is full of families with kids. I think these two were a little bummed that they couldn't pass out more candy.

Although, when they both saw the half full candy bowl still sitting on the counter, they secretly high-fived each other. Too bad they have know idea that tomorrow is SUGAR DETOX! For them and me :-)

I hope everyone else had a GREAT Halloween!!!

Our Fall Family Pictures

I've known since LAST fall that I wanted to get a new fall family picture taken of the four of us this year. We haven't had a fall family picture since Addie was just a little peanut and Blake was nothing more than a cute little bump under my sweater. We were going to have Uncle Ryan take some last year and then time slipped away, the leaves all fell, and we said forget it. We ended up just getting some cute Christmas pics of the kids instead.

But this year, I was determined to get out there before the leaves were gone. The problem was, finding a day that worked with not only our family's busy schedule, but also my brother's, was nearly impossible. So on a whim, Aunt Dana said, "Hey...I've got a nice camera. Why don't we all just pack up and head out to the park and see what we can get."

At this point, I didn't really have outfits situated and I was worried that the kids (and Eric) weren't in the right moods for pictures. But...we went anyway. In the moment, the photoshoot seemed like pure chaos. The kids were everywhere, playing with toys and sand, and I was already in stress mode before Dana even took the first shot. I left the park that day worried that we didn't get a single good picture of us. But then when Dana and I sat down with some wine afterwards, we uploaded all 500+ pictures and found some really precious gems in the bunch. Here are some of my absolute favorites.

One of our family shots. We didn't get Blake to smile, but at least he wasn't crying. I'll take it :-)

And then there's this beauty queen. Could she be more gorgeous in this picture?

This one is going up in black & white at our house.

Here is our second usable family shot. Again, Blake is not smiling but at least they are looking at the camera. I love the leaves on this tree :-)

Dana and I were trying to replicate some shots we saw on Pinterest, but sadly...this whole kissing shot was kind of a joke.

Mostly because Blake tried clawing Eric's eye out and Addie kept kicking me in the boob.

Oh was worth a shot :-)

The one thing that kept the kids entertained while Dana snapped pictures was this John Deere tractor.

Blake went bonkers over it.

We were actually able to get some of his best shots while sitting on the tractor. I love this one of his gorgeous eyelashes...

And this close-up of his sweet face. What a doll.

We had a REALLY hard time getting him off this tractor.

I kept trying to bribe him to get off and he would just laugh at me.

So we left him there for a bit.

In the meantime, Dana got this great picture of Addie and I laying in the leaves. I'm not a huge fan of my face in this, but Addie looks I'll keep it.

Here is our 3rd attempt at a family shot. smiling (or looking) from Blake.

And then of course he went bat shit crazy the minute he decided he was done with pictures.

He is on the verge of tears here, but it is still a cute picture. This was our 4th and final try at the family shot. Even Eric was like "Ok...I'm done" at this point.

So then we just let the kids play. Again, Dana was able to capture some of the cutest action shots!

And here is the real gem, my friends. The one shot that made the WHOLE photoshoot worth it.

Okay...this one is pretty darn cute too. Such a great cousins picture :-)

Oh did Eric's underwear modeling shot get in there????? Weird...

So back to the kids. Here are the two little BFFs posing for one last picture. This one is SO going in a frame.

Overall, I would call that fall family photoshoot a success! Taking pictures with the kids at these ages is so not easy, but I do believe it is worth the chaos for those few great moments you can capture. Thanks again Aunt Dana for forcing us to the park that day and for taking so many beautiful pictures!!! Having you and Ryan at my beck and call is a pretty sweet deal :-)

What's A Teddy Bear Picnic?

I wondered the same thing when I saw that Addie's preschool was having a Teddy Bear picnic in lieu of a traditional Halloween party. I'll admit...I was a little bummed at first that her Christian preschool doesn't celebrate the holiday (mostly because I love seeing a bunch of little kiddies in their costumes) but when I told Addie she would get to wear her jammies and slippers to preschool instead, she was like...

"WOOHOO!!!!! I get to wear my jammies?!!!!!"

She could care less about not getting to wear her costume. She just thought it was the coolest thing ever to go to school in her new piggie jammies and pink fuzzy slippers today...

The best part, for me anyway, was that parents were able to join the party for the last half hour. The kids sang us some adorable songs...

I think Audrey (in the yellow) forgot the words here. Ha :-)

And when they were done singing, they were able to join us at the tables for a little treat.

All the kids got to decorate their own teddy bear cookie today and it's clear that these chics like their frosting...

I think the idea was to share the teddy bear cookie with your parents, but Addie was like, "Whatevs...I made this thing...I get to eat it"

Don't parties like this make you miss being a kid? They were all so cute and so excited today...and I'm sure this is all they will talk about ALL weekend. Addie has already been singing her teddy bear song for everyone and if I can ever get my video uploader to work, I will share it with all of you too :-)

So...did anyone else's kiddies have a Halloween party or Teddy Bear Picnic today?
