My 5 YEAR Bloggiversary...and a Little Giveaway to Celebrate

Isn't it funny how certain dates stick with you?

I am not talking about the obvious, momentous dates like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I am talking about the random, I-have-no-idea-why-I-remember-this-day dates.

You know...like remembering the first time you read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (December 23, 2001. I was home for Christmas Break and I picked up a paperback copy at Barnes and Noble). Or like remembering your anniversary with a junior high boyfriend you dated for like 12 days (September 3, 1993. His name was Brandon and he asked me to be his girlfriend on a note he shoved in my locker. I said yes because he played baseball and he was one of the few boys that was actually taller than me that year.)

See what I mean? RANDOM!!

But of all the crazy dates I still remember, the one that blows Eric's mind the most is the fact that I remember when I started my blog (June 1, 2008). At the time, my BF Mandy was starting her blog and I thought it was such a fun way for us, and all of my family/friends, to keep up with each other's lives. Mandy had Parker and I had just had Addie so it was fun to read stories about the kids and share our journeys through Mommyhood.

Blogging has changed a LOT in the last five years, and it's been fun to watch Mandy turn her blogging hobby into an incredibly successful career. In fact, it's been fun watching lots of my oldest blogging buddies get married, have babies, move across country, open their own businesses, etc. Without blogging, I wouldn't have made (and kept) so many wonderful friends and I certainly wouldn't have had the courage to open ThePolkaDotPosie with my mom. Blogging has opened so many doors for me and although I am just a teeny tiny blip on the blog radar, I feel blessed to have met so many wonderful people through it. It's something that I hope to do for many, many years to come.

So when Eric asks why I still remember this date...I simply say, "IT'S MY BLOGGIVERSARY DUDE!"

Although this year, it took me 3 whole days to remember it. Whoops! I blame it on graduations, dance recitals and mommy emotions. My brain could only handle so many special dates this month.

But speaking of special dates...

I tried really hard to think about what I wanted to giveaway this year as a bloggiversary gift. According to tradition, the 5th anniversary is celebrated with a gift of wood.

I mean...I could go so many places with that right now...but I won't.

So the SECOND thing that popped into my head was a wooden picture frame. But since picture frames are pretty personal and sorta boring to just buy and send out for a stranger, I thought something to put IN a picture frame would be a lot more fun. And since we are talking about special dates today...I thought what better gift to give than a Custom Date Sign from ThePolkaDotPosie Printables Shop!!
These custom dates signs are probably one of the biggest sellers in the printable shop right now and I have had so much fun making them! I can customize with any background or color scheme and they make a wonderful, unique gift.

But today...this wonderful, unique gift is for YOU!!! WOOHOO!!

Winning this date sign is easy. Just leave ONE comment on this post telling me the most RANDOM date you remember and why. All entries must be in by Friday and I will announce the winner on Saturday.

Thanks to all of my friends, my family and my 445 followers that keep me blogging!! It's been so much fun sharing my journey (and printables) with all of you! Here's to another 5 years and counting :-)
